Hi there! Before we begin your RECOVERY PEEL treatment at HORTUS, we just want to walk you through a few important things to make sure you feel fully informed, confident, and comfortable. This form is here to help you understand what the treatment is, what to expect, and how to take care of your skin afterwards. If you have any questions, just ask, we’re here for you.

What is RECOVERY PEEL?

The peel product we use is a gentle but effective chemical peel designed to refresh and rejuvenate the skin. It works by encouraging healthy skin cell turnover, helping improve texture, tone, and overall glow. It does not cause photosensitivity so great to use all year round.

  • Blue 35%  ~ For face, neck, and chest

  • Gold (Body) 50%  ~ For arms, legs, back, knees, and hands

What’s Inside RECOVERY PEEL?

Here are the key ingredients that help your skin feel refreshed and renewed:

  • TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) – A powerful exfoliant that smooths skin and supports regeneration
  • Salicylic Acid, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid – Gently clear pores, brighten, and soften skin
  • GABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) – Helps boost collagen and skin elasticity
  • Amino Acids (Proline, Arginine) – Support skin repair and hydration
  • Hydroxyproline – Improves firmness and collagen stability
  • Squalane – Deeply moisturizes and helps calm inflammation
  • Isopropyl Myristate – Helps the ingredients absorb into the skin and improves texture

Allergy Warning:
If you have a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the above ingredients (especially acids or squalane), this is not the appropriate treatment for you.  

What You Might Feel

Everyone’s skin is unique, but it’s normal to experience:

  • Mild redness, warmth, or tightness after the treatment (similar to a light sunburn)
  • Light peeling or flaking for a few days
  • Temporary itching or tingling

These are common and typically resolve within a few days.

Before Your Peel ~ Please Avoid:

5–7 Days Before:

  • Waxing, laser hair removal, electrolysis, or chemical hair removal creams

3–5 Days Before:

  • Retinoids (like Retin-A), exfoliants, or any skincare acids (AHA/BHA)

After Your Peel ~ Be Kind to Your Skin!

Until your skin is fully healed:

  • Use only mineral-based makeup
  • Avoid acids, retinol, or exfoliants for 7 days
  • No sunbeds, waxing, swimming pools, laser treatments, or saunas for 7 days
  • Wear SPF 50+ daily to protect your results

Possible Side Effects

Most clients experience only mild effects, but it’s important to be aware of the possibilities:

  • Temporary redness, swelling, dryness, or sensitivity
  • Light peeling or flaking
  • Possible breakouts or purging
  • Cold sore flare-ups (if prone to herpes simplex virus)
  • Rare: infection, scarring, or discoloration

Please let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores, sensitive skin, or allergies.

Who Should NOT Have This Peel (Contraindications)

This treatment is not recommended if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have active skin infections (herpes, bacterial, or fungal)
  • Have open wounds or sunburn in the treatment area
  • Have used isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past 6 months
  • Have a known allergy to any of the ingredients listed below
  • Have extremely sensitive, reactive, or compromised skin
  • Have recently had laser, microneedling, or other intense treatments without enough healing time
